From Edolo to Monte Colmo
Views over the upper Camonica Valley
From the southern edge of Edolo, on the border with the municipal territory of Sonico, a long and scenic, completely asphalted road enables you to reach the summit area of the artificial pipes of Monte Colmo. The starting point of the itinerary is near the town of Edolo just north of the railway level crossing, level with the crossroads between the state road for the Tonale with Via Monte Como.
Go about eighty metres and you will come to a junction, where you turn to the right (on the left there is Via Alcide De Gasperi), then pedal for another three kilometres, without any prominent intersections, until you go straight, level with a sign showing an equipped stop-off area from the Adamello Park. Without being abe to go the wrong way, you climb with some difficulty, observing the signs for the alpine shelters, paths and refreshment areas. After the seventh kilometre and after covering half of the hill, you come to the penstocks and a junction with a fountain, where you go straight on.
Aftyer a few more kilometres you pass the starting point of the tourist itinerary n.72, level with a bend to the right.
Now there are fewer than three kilometres to the end of the road, broken up by a new route near the pipes and by passing two short stretches set close together in a tunnel.
Just after the second tunnel, the asphalt road ends in a small, scenic square.
The return journey corresponds to the uphill route. |
