The parks of the Strone and Mella Morta

Countryside and landscapes modelled by man From San Gervasio proceed in the direction of Verolanuova, passing by the motorway for Cremona and then the Gardesana state road. Having reached the crossroads for Orzinuovi, turn left along the dirt track towards the farmstead Vallate, passing in front of it and continuing along the asphalt to the right of the railings. You cover a short stretch downhill and enter the Local Park area of intercommunal interest of the Strone River distributed over the territories of the municipalities of Pontevico, San Paolo, Verolanuova and Verolavecchia. The park may also be visited by bicycle, with care, travelling along some of the many pathways, which wind through the mixed wood of oaks, willow trees, elms, lime trees and ashes and passing by on small and interesting bridges the area where the river and the other canals run. We then retrace the route followed up until the crossroads with the Gardesana where you turn right in the direction of Cremona. After passing the church of the Madonna della Strada and the signs for Barchi, turn left at the next crossroads for Torchiera; you then pass by the hamlets of Torchiera and Gauzza cycling in the direction of Pralboino passing by Alfianello. On reaching Milzano, turn towards Cigole and follow the signs for the low marshy land of the Mellamorta park, an interesting humid area "abandoned" by the nearby Mella River. Picking up the road for Cigole once more, continue to Verolanuova and you will soon come to San Gervasio again.
